Master Off-Camera Flash

In-Person Workshop

with Dan Frievalt & Matt Canterbury

June 11-12, 2026 | Green Bay, Wisconsin
Optional Bonus Day: June 10

Ready to get better with off-camera flash in a real, hands-on setting?

Join Dan Frievalt and Matt Canterbury in Green Bay, WI, for an in-person workshop built to help you create stronger images, ask real questions, and leave with skills you can use right away.

This is not a stand-in-the-back-and-watch kind of workshop.

We’re keeping it capped at just 20 photographersso we can break into two smaller groups, rotate through setups, and give you more access to how we shoot, light, direct, and create.

You’ll learn through live demos, hands-on shooting, real conversations, and plenty of time to ask questions as we go.

NO GATEKEEPING - NO EGOS

Evening Hangouts + Q&A

We built this workshop to be more all-access.

You won’t just watch us shoot and then head home hoping you remember enough to try it later.

You’ll get to see how we think through a setup, how we light, how we problem-solve, and how we create the final image. We want you to leave with ideas and techniques you can put to work right away in your own sessions.

With smaller rotating groups, you’ll have more chances to ask questions, see the setups up close, shoot more, and really understand what goes into creating the kind of images you want to make.

And the learning doesn’t stop when the shooting day ends.

Each night, we’ll gather for open Q&A and discussion, so you’re not left hanging once the cameras get packed away. We’ll talk about anything from sales, pricing, model teams, marketing, and lighting to movie quotes and bad dad jokes. We want this weekend to be packed with learning, but also fun.

June 11, 2026 - 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Full Shooting Day: OCF On-Location

Attendees will be divided into two groups, with half starting with Matt and half starting with Dan. The morning sessions will focus on urban locations, with each mentor walking their group through a different process, approach, and way of working. Later in the morning, the groups will switch so every attendee gets equal time learning from both mentors.

After lunch, we will do more demos, and then attendees will break into smaller groups and begin working with models while Matt and Dan move between groups to answer questions, give feedback, and help guide the process. This gives everyone the chance to create their own images under our direction, putting the techniques into practice so they really start to click and helping you lock in what you’re learning.

From there, we can stay in the urban setting or transition into a nature-based setting for the next part of the day. We may also squeeze in an outdoor sports session before heading to our sunset nature location. We are open to what the majority of the group requests.

Dinner is on your own, and we’ll wrap up the night with a group chat at the hotel until??

June 12, 2026 - 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Morning Shoot: OCF Indoor Sports
We’ll start the day in two groups again, as on day one, with an indoor sports lighting session focused on off-camera flash techniques in a sports training facility with weights and a basketball court. We will demo using gels, fog, reflective methods, and other creative techniques. Dinner on your own, then nightly chat until?

June 12, 2026 - 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Travel Information

If you’re flying in, we recommend renting a car since attendees may be coming in through a few different airports, and having your own vehicle will make getting to Green Bay, your hotel, dinner, and the workshop locations a lot easier.

Closest Airport

Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport (GRB)
This is the closest and easiest airport option for the workshop. Green Bay’s airport currently lists nonstop service tied to hubs including Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, and Minneapolis.

Other Airport Options

Appleton International Airport (ATW)
Appleton is another good option and is about 40 minutes from Green Bay by car.

Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE)
Milwaukee can be a solid option if flight pricing or schedules work better for you. The drive to Green Bay is about 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours.

Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
O’Hare may offer more flight choices for some travelers. The drive to Green Bay is about 3 hours.

Rental Car Suggestion

We highly recommend booking a rental car if you are flying in, especially if you plan to use Appleton, Milwaukee, or Chicago. Green Bay is easy to get around by car, and having your own transportation will make the workshop weekend much simpler.
